Every day, Team Favor takes a van ride to our carepoint to do ministry for the day. Every day, our van drops off the other team we ride with (shout out team river) at their care point, then take about a 45 minute drive to our care point; its so far out we say its in “the bush”.
ANYWAY, everyday we drive on the same road. By the same houses, trees, and animals. But my teammate, Gabrey, mentioned how every day, on this same road we drive on twice a day, she always notices something new; a intricate hand-made home, a certain kind of tree, baby goats napping.
That got me thinking about my walk with God..
I walk the same road,
Up and down, there and back,
I choose and trust the same road;
Consistent as the rise and set of the sun
I see the familiar cracks in its side walk,
neighborly houses I pass the day before
even the birds seem to sing a familiar tune.
Consistent traversing and walking along,
I say, “I know this road. This consistent road.”
But now,
there’s something new,
Something different I noticed not the day before.
The houses are tucked together neat as a deck of cards,
The trees singing in symphony along with the birds,
wind rustled leaves sing as laughter from a neighborly home perks my ears
But I thought it was consistent?
Ever unchanging in what it is and takes me toward.
No, the road has not changed,
I’m simply seeing more each walk.
The path is never changing,
We simply learn more about the path as we walk.
So I will now search high and low on my walks;
See every house in detail, and every tree in full
I’ll count each leaf and study every texture,
I will know this same road, until I can know no more,
Or until I reach the end, And am content with knowing nothing at all.
Shout out to Gabrey for the inspiration behind this blog!!
